Global citizenship skills are vital for the promotion of sustainable development. Fingo carries out active advocacy for global citizenship education so that people of all ages have the capacity to participate in building a sustainable and just world.

Global citizenship education must be part of development policy.
Citizens have the right to receive information about global development and ways to promote sustainable development. Active citizenship must be supported so that people are able to take action for a globally sustainable future.
Global citizenship education must belong to all.
Global citizenship education must be included in all policy programmes concerning formal, non-formal and informal education and training so that citizens of all ages will be able to take part in building a sustainable future.
Sustainable development must be supported through education and training.
Sustainable development will not become a reality without citizens. According to SDG target 4.7 of the 2030 Agenda, all learners must acquire sufficient knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development. A plan must be formulated for Finland to ensure that education and training in line with target 4.7 will be realised and that all actors in the sector will pull together towards this target.
