Exhibitor sign-up now open – World Village Festival adopts vegetarian-only food policy

The exhibitor sign-up for the spring 2024 World Village Festival is now open. The festival has an even stronger focus on sustainable and responsible solutions. Going forward, the festival food vendors will only be serving vegetarian food. The call for the talks and discussions programme is open until 27 November 2023.

Next year’s World Village Festival takes place during the last weekend of May (25–26 May 2024) in Suvilahti, Helsinki. The theme for the festival is Courage.

“The exhibitor sign-up opened today and will continue until the end of February. There’s a limited number of larger spaces in particular, so anyone interested should act fast. Those signing up by 20 December will also get an Early Bird discount”, says World Village Festival Production Manager Maria Hopponen.

Festival exhibitors and vendors attract interest among festivalgoers. According to the visitor survey, 90% of festivalgoers visit the stands and 66% report that the food supply is one of the most important reasons to attend the festival.

“We’re also reintroducing the Book World, which many people have been wanting to see come back and introducing a new Recycling World. There’s a lot of interest in the various aspects of circular economy and recycling, so this is a welcome addition to the festival offering”, Hopponen continues.

World Village Festival also offers a variety of partner packages as well as opportunities to tailor participation and to implement a festival presence that reflects the organisation’s identity.

“Anyone interested should get in touch. We’ll be happy to help you to come up with just the right way for your organisation to participate. All sorts of new and different ways of taking part are very welcome”, says World Village Festival Cooperation and Fundraising Manager Marjo Martin.

Smaller carbon footprint

World Village Festival is developing its extensive street food vendor concept and, going forward, only vegetarian food will be sold at the festival. There will be no meat, poultry or fish products served. Vegetarian food helps us reduce our carbon footprint and promote environmentally friendly practices.

The festival is committed to the “Cool Music” commitment and the implementation of a live music climate roadmap. We acknowledge the environmental impact of the music industry and work to reduce it.

We address the festival’s environmental impact by various environmental compensations. For instance, 10% of the combined air travel expenses of international artists are annually donated to the Finnish NGO for environmental work. In 2023, we donated to the Dodo Association’s Gambia Tesito project. This project actively engages in forest conservation with a local partner.
