Levellers of Digital Power

Welcome to the Levellers of Digital Power online course!

This course explores digital power and how it can be balanced from three different perspectives. Each of the three modules contains multiple subpages, including informational texts, reflective exercises, and tips for further resources. You can go through the modules in any order you prefer.

This course is designed for civil society organizations and active citizens working in sustainable futures, global education, and development cooperation.

The goals are to:

  • Understand the principles and power dynamics related to digitalization
  • Explore your opportunities to utilize digitalization and digital power
  • Envision and begin creating a more just digital world

The course brings together the expertise of researchers, activists, partners, and organizations that participated in a project funded by Sitra. Hanna Niittymäki from the Peace Education Clinic (Rauhankasvatusneuvola), Mika Välitalo, and Jenni Tuominen from Fingo produced the course content. Other contributors are mentioned at the end of each content section.

Participation instructions

Please note that your progress is not saved on the platform, but only in your browser’s cache. If you wish, you can keep a personal learning journal where you complete the exercises and record your insights (see detailed instructions below).

Digital badge and learning journal

You can earn a Levellers of Digital Power badge by completing Fingo’s learning journal. The template includes instructions and questions that help you reflect on what you’ve learned or what thoughts came to mind during the course. Complete the journal as instructed and send it to koulutus@fingo.fi. You will be contacted regarding the receipt of the digital badge.
