Programme

The Spring meeting is preceded by a programme aimed at member organizations. In the programme we’ll discuss the role of civil society and especially organizations as drivers of the sustainability transition.

Docent and author Hannele Cantell will be the opening speaker for the discussion. She specializes in sustainability and global education and is also an experienced working with NGOs. In her speech, Cantell will explain what kind of changes are required to implement the sustainability transition at different levels of society and what the specific roles of organisations are in this.

After Cantell’s speech, Jenna Kettunen from Solidaarisuus and Heidi Holmroos from Marttaliitto will comment on the topic from the perspective of their own work. After the presentations, meeting participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the sustainability transition from the perspective of their own organization through small group discussions.

The Spring meeting day offers Fingo’s members an inspiring opportunity to map the diverse work that organizations are already doing to achieve the sustainability transition. Together we will seek answers to what it takes to bring about systemic change and how we would like to do this work in the future.

We will also get a taste of the World Village festival when Nemat Battah, who will perform at the Sound of Peace concert, will perform a couple of songs. Palestinian-Jordanian musician Battah is trained in traditional Arabic music, and the artist’s self-composed music explores her own experiences of intergenerational war trauma.

“Peace is understanding that our diversity as humans shouldn’t divide us.”
