Music changing the world – World Village Festival’s music programme released

Opening Helsinki’s festival summer in Suvilahti, World Village Festival has released its entire music lineup and some of the key speakers. This year, the free festival is themed on a Force for Change. How music can be a force for change is shown by the likes of Israeli-Persian singer Liraz and Ukrainian-Canadian Balaklava Blues. Big Finnish names taking the stage are Von Hertzen Brothers, Jesse Markin, Yeboyah, Ilta and Megasakki. Key speakers include activists Helena Gualinga and Winnie Masai.

Theme for 2023 Festival: Force for Change! – Call for programme submissions is now open

Next year’s World Village Festival takes place on 27–28 May in Suvilahti, Helsinki. The theme for the festival is Force for Change! Call for programme submissions is now open and exhibitor schedules have been published. It is difficult to change the world on your own, but together we can do it. Together we are a force for change.

World Village Festival attracts more than 20,000 festivalgoers – full audience capacity at many programme venues

The 2022 World Village Festival exceeded expectations and brought a total audience of 21,500 people to Helsinki’s Tiivistämö event venue, Allas Sea Pool, Market Square, Kino Regina, Temppeliaukio Church and the online events. The long-established free festival featured more than 40 programme items from concerts to talks and discussions, documentaries and the exhibitors’ Market of Possibilities.

Online Cinema opens today

Finland’s largest cultural festival focusing on global issues and sustainable development themes, the World Village Festival opens today. Kicking off with the Online Cinema screening documentary films throughout the week, the free festival culminates in a weekend full of concerts, talks and discussions, art as well the Market of Possibilities exhibitor event on 28 and 29 May. The theme of the festival is the Boundaries of Our Planet.
