World Village Festival presents an impressive lineup of talks and discussions centered around the theme of Freedom, a topic that is more relevant than ever

World Village Festival’s talks and discussions highlight numerous conflicts that threaten freedom, as well as people fighting for it. Keynote speakers include Walden Bello, Joelle Taylor, Teivo Teiviainen, Joseph White Eyes, Michelle Mwelesa, and Freddy Lim. Talks and discussions take place at Bio Rex, Lasipalatsi district of Helsinki on May 16–17, 2026.

International rhythms and topical discussions take over Helsinki city center

World Village Festival held in 16.-17. May will feature performances on by Yona, Mutaveijarit, French-Colombian artist Ëda Diaz, Jarmo Saari Republic, Aizhan Sultan and Vodou Fusion. The admission free festival is held in Helsinki’s Lasipalatsi District and Narinkka Square. This year’s theme is Freedom which is reflected throughout the programme, including workshops, talks, and discussions. The event is organised by Fingo.

The first programme announcements for World Village Festival bring perspectives on Palestine, Venezuela, and Congo

Newly relocated World Village Festival has published its first programme. The admission free festival will be held in May 16-17 in central Helsinki. The festival will feature Congolese-Canadian multi-instrumentalist Kizaba, psychedelic desert rock band Jamila & The Other Heroes with Palestinian background and a topical discussion on Venezuela’s right to freedom between Venezuelan photojournalist Manu Quintero and journalist Maija Salmi, who has reported from Venezuela. The theme of the festival is Freedom.

World Village Festival call for programme proposals and intern recruitment now open

Open call for programme proposals for World Village Festival 2026 is now open. We are looking for a wide range of programs related to the theme of Freedom: talks and discussions, cultural program, workshops, and films. We are also looking for two interns for the festival in the spring. A preliminary area map and additional information for exhibitors have been published. Join us for the most important event of the year in sustainable development and global justice!
