“Nordic Voices for Global Solidarity” is a six month project funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ funding programme Demos. The aim of the project is to support Nordic civil society actors, particularly those working on international development, to reimagine and realign. The reimagining is targeted at the meaning of global solidarity as part of Nordic social sustainability and a fair transition. The realigning means getting out of siloes and enhancing knowledge exchange beyond our bubbles.
The project is being implemented by Finnish Development NGOs Fingo, Forum for Utvikling and Miljø and Globalt Fokus.
What is the focus of the project?
The aim of the project is to support Nordic civil society actors, particularly those working on international development, to reimagine and realign. The reimagining is targeted at the meaning of global solidarity as part of Nordic social sustainability and a fair transition. The realigning means getting out of siloes and enhancing knowledge exchange beyond our bubbles.
What are the key activities of the project?
The key activities of the project include:
- a broad stakeholder analysis to identify civil society stakeholders in Nordic Countries interested in global solidarity and to ask about their views on global solidarity. A main component of this activity will be an online electronic survey conducted on Polis-platform. Are you Nordic and interested in participating? You can access the survey here.
- a Nordic conference on radical imagination and futures thinking. The aim of the conference will be to develop a civil society vision of Nordic global solidarity. The imagination will respond to the question: Considering the megatrends and changing operating environment, where does Nordic global solidarity need to evolve? What is the work civil society wants to do for a sustainable Nordic 2030 and beyond?
- workshops with development organisations to develop solutions for how to take forward the Nordic vision of global solidarity. The day of workshops will adopt the methodologies of hackathons to address questions such as equal and sustainable partnerships including with youth; citizen engagement and inspiration; Nordic visions in international discussions; and viable funding models for civil society.
- an online report outlining the Nordic vision and proposed solutions for its implementation.
