The first programme announcements for World Village Festival bring perspectives on Palestine, Venezuela, and Congo

Newly relocated World Village Festival has published its first programme. The admission free festival will be held in May 16-17 in central Helsinki. The festival will feature Congolese-Canadian multi-instrumentalist Kizaba, psychedelic desert rock band Jamila & The Other Heroes with Palestinian background and a topical discussion on Venezuela’s right to freedom between Venezuelan photojournalist Manu Quintero and journalist Maija Salmi, who has reported from Venezuela. The theme of the festival is Freedom.

Open call for programme proposals for World Village Festival 2026 is now open. We are looking for a wide range of programs related to the theme of Freedom: talks and discussions, cultural program, workshops, and films. World Village Festival is transforming and moving from Suvilahti to central Helsinki. The traditional admission free event will be held a week earlier than usual, on May 16–17, 2026, at Bio Rex and in the Lasipalatsi and Mauno Koivisto squares. The theme of the sustainable development festival is Freedom.

The 30th anniversary of World Village Festival will be celebrated next week

World Village Festival has been campaigning for a just and sustainable world for 30 years. The festival will take place on 24–25 May in Suvilahti, Helsinki, with the theme Peace. The two-day admission free event for the whole family will feature international and Finnish concerts, talks and discussions, children's programme, workshops, activities for young people, art, 40 street food kitchens and 160 exhibitors.

The sound of peace will be heard at the 30th anniversary World Village Festival

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the sustainable development festival, World Village Festival, has published the first part of its programme. Rannagor wins World Village Festival’s 2024 Food Vendor of the Year title – next year’s festival themed on Peace

World Village Festival has awarded Rannagor, a restaurant serving Bengali food, the 2024 Food Vendor of the Year title. The anniversary-year festival in 2025 will be themed on Peace. Some exhibitor and programme production schedules have been published.
