Looking for something new for your evaluation toolkit? Join this 2-hour webinar on the 26th of November at 3:30 pm!

Ripple Effects Mapping (REM) is a qualitative and participatory evaluation approach designed to explore the impacts of projects that aim for social change.

The method visually maps the ripple effects created by project activities through three key elements:

  • the Appreciative Inquiry approach,
  • group interviews and collective reflection
  • digital visualization of evaluation results using mind mapping.

Developed in the United States about twenty years ago to assess the impacts of community-based projects, REM has since proven valuable for a wide range of initiatives. Its strengths lie in its participatory nature, lightness and flexibility, and its ability to reveal hidden or indirect impacts. It can be used both in self-evaluation and during external evaluation.

The session will be led by Scott Chazdon from the U.S., one of the developers of the REM methodology. If participants show interest in the method, we will consider offering a more in-depth training next year.
