This training will help you to adopt a powerful mobile data-gathering tool in your organization. Kobotoolbox is a free and open-source application which widely used by humanitarian and civil society organizations around the world. It allows users to create surveys, assign them to field personnel, collect data using Android mobile phones as well as track and analyze the incoming responses. Baseline surveys, project monitoring, community-led data gathering, and evaluation surveys are typical use cases for Kobotoolbox.

In this training, you will learn how to
– set up an account for Kobotoolbox
– create basic surveys
– create advanced surveys with e.g. skip-logic and validation criteria
– assign surveys to selected people
– inspect, monitor, and analyze incoming data
– share results
– modify KoboCollect app to suit your needs
– tips and tricks for data collection
Participants will receive preparation instructions prior to the training.
Intended audience
Training is especially useful for organizations conducting field-level data collection. In addition to Fingo’s member organizations also, local civil society organizations are welcome to join the training.
Trainer
The training will be held by Mika Välitalo (an advisor for technology, innovation and private sector collaboration) from Fingo.
